About

Hey there!

Who am I?

I’m a twenty-something guy living in western Canada. I’ve come to accept, embrace, and love my nerdy qualities. I’m embarking on a journey to make the most of life and use my nerdyness to my advantage.

I love learning, yoga, the outdoors, biking, skiing, reading, cooking, investing, and fitness.

What’s this blog about?

Well frankly, a little bit of everything. I’ve come to realize that I have an aptitude for researching and analyzing the most optimal ways to make day-to-day life decisions. Whether it’s spending hours researching the best fun-to-price ratio of a trip to Mexico, or debating whether I should get the iPhone 6 or the iPhone 6+, or where to invest my money to maximize future earning, or new tricks to get into an advanced yoga pose, I love putting my money and time into things that will make my life a little more awesome.

I also have noticed that a lot of people around me living unhappy lives, drowning in debt, trying to buy their happiness, and generally setting themselves up to work 9-5 until 65 while being miserable along the way.

By many standards, I am still but a young-grasshopper with much to learn, and that’s great! I think far too many people become stagnant at a young age and just follow the herd of society. They get a job they may or may not enjoy, they buy a huge house and fancy car just because it’s the popular thing to do, they stop being active because they don’t have time or no energy (spoiler: you have no energy because you’re not active!), and perhaps even worse, they stop having fun on a regular basis.

So I’ve started this blog to share the ways that I try to infuse fun, curiosity, fitness, nutrition, and spending money intelligently into my daily life. I’m not a genius, nor a millionaire (yet!), but I believe it’s within everyone’s power to live an awesome life without either of those things. I also want to learn from my readers! I know there’s some amazing people out there and I’m always willing to learn.

Some of the things I expect to cover on this blog include:

  • Money: Ways to save, invest, spend, and strategically set yourself up for a long comfortable life.
  • Fitness: Your body is your temple, and you only get one! I’ll cover a variety of sports that I enjoy, general fitness, and nutrition.
  • Happiness: Ways to see the silver lining, to make the most of difficult situations, and how to look at the world a little bit differently.
  • Travel: I caught the travel bug a long time ago, and I love talking about travelling. I’ll share what I’ve learned, and my strategies for maximizing the fun-to-price ratio.
  • Product Reviews: I’ll admit it, I like buying stuff. But, more importantly I love buying quality products that are worth their cost. I want to share what I’ve learned to help you make informed decisions about your purchases.

What you won’t find:

  • Extreme frugality or complicated investing strategies: I’m a busy guy and while I have a genuine interest in money, I would rather be off on an adventure than spending countless hours researching investments. Instead I have a few relatively simple strategies that require minimal effort and can expect reliable long-term growth. I also like buying things, periodically going out for a meal, or catching a show so extreme frugality is not something I subscribe to.
  • Recommendations for things I wouldn’t personally use: I won’t mention or post about products that I wouldn’t personally use (unless it’s part of a review). In other words, my focus is on creating a community of quality information and not spamming you with product placements.
